The restoration of this building merits more thoughtful attention than can be afforded by a brief, technical paragraph. The construction of the Parish Church of San Esteban de Arguedas in the 16th century responded to the needs of a community that, with perseverance, focused a long and demanding effort on a single objective: to secure a worthy space for the celebration of the Eucharist, the administration of and access to the sacraments, liturgical celebrations, and prayer.
The result was the building with the greatest capacity in the town—and the greatest architectural value—most notably distinguished by its ensemble of groin vaults, which are, without doubt, the single most valuable architectural feature in the locality.
