Etayo - Restoration of Tower

Structural Consolidation of the Parish Tower of Etayo, Navarre, Spain

The instability of the tower has been a source of concern for decades in the town of Etayo. This instability was patently visible in cracks exceeding 10 centimeters in width and several meters in length, as well as in the need to maintain an external metal bracing system.

Prior to the restoration work that was ultimately carried out, the parish found itself at an impasse. Previous financial estimates—received in 2009—had placed the projected budget at approximately 600,000 euros: a sum far beyond the means of this small parish.

Based on our own expert assessment—which diverged from previous hypotheses—we demonstrated that stabilizing the tower was indeed feasible using low-cost, minimally invasive restoration techniques, without the need to intervene at the foundation level.

The actual cost of the intervention was reduced to one-third of the original projection.

As of 2018, the project was still underway. By 2022, we concluded our monitoring phase, having successfully halted the structural movement and achieved a stabilized tower.

However, the complete finishing of the stairwells and the tower's interior was halted due to a lack of funds.
